“Therefore welcome one another, just as Christ also welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
Romans 15:7
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Paul wrote to a church in Rome where Jewish and Gentile believers were straining over food rules and holy days. “Take in” meant more than polite greeting; it meant making room for someone as part of your own circle. Christ had already done that for them, and their shared life was meant to show God’s worth.
Reflection
Who have you kept at the edge of your circle, and what would it look like to take that person in the way Christ took you in?
A prayer
Jesus, you made room for me when I had nothing to offer. Open my hands today so I stop guarding my circle and start making space for someone else, for your honor.
Carry it with you
Today, choose one person who is easy to overlook—at work, at home, or in your congregation—and deliberately include them: ask their view, share a meal, or give them a real task beside you. Let that welcome be concrete, not just a kind thought.
