The setting
Paul is correcting believers in Corinth who ranked leaders by eloquence and status. In a Roman household, a steward managed the owner's goods and was judged by reliability, not by applause. Kingdom work is measured the same way: trustworthiness with what has been handed over.

Where have you been handling what God gave you for recognition rather than simply being found faithful with it?
A prayer
Jesus, make me someone you can count on. Help me keep my word in the plain tasks in front of me, and loosen my need to be noticed.
Carry it with you
Today, complete one ordinary responsibility you have delayed—a reply, a chore, or a promise—without telling anyone you did it. Offer that follow-through as service to Christ rather than as a performance for others.
