“so that you become blameless and innocent children of God, unblemished in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,”
Philippians 2:15
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Paul wrote this from imprisonment to believers in Philippi, a proud Roman colony where civic status and public honor mattered. “Unmixed” (akeraios) pictured metal without alloy or wine without dilution—integrity that could be tested. Light-bearers (phosteres) recalled stars that hold their course while the surrounding night stays dark.
Reflection
Where today might “unmixed” integrity cost you a little status—and what would it look like to choose that cost anyway?
A prayer
God, keep my words and motives undiluted today. Let whatever light I carry be quiet and real, not a performance.
Carry it with you
Pick one ordinary setting today—a meeting, a checkout line, a group chat—and refuse the easy sarcasm or half-truth you would normally add. Do one concrete kindness without announcing it.
