“I declared to them the hand of my God which had been good to me, as well as the king's words that he spoke to me. They said, "Let us arise and build." So they strengthened their hands for the good.”
Nehemiah 2:18
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Jerusalem’s walls still lay in rubble after exile. Nehemiah had just walked the ruins at night, then told the local leaders how God had opened a door through the Persian king. Their reply was not a committee meeting—it was a decision to start rebuilding with their own hands.
Reflection
Where have you been circling the ruins instead of saying, with them, “We will get up and we will build”?
A prayer
God, give me courage to stand up and begin the good work You have already opened, and steady my hands when the rubble looks bigger than I am.
Carry it with you
Pick one neglected “wall” in your ordinary life—an unfinished conversation, a neglected neighbor, a skill you’ve delayed—and take one concrete step on it today, even if it is small.
