Ordinary Time · Daily Verse

“who gave himself for us to redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a special people, zealous for good works.”

Titus 2:14

Lumin’s Faithful Translation

The setting

Paul wrote to Titus, who was organizing churches on Crete, an island whose culture was often mocked for dishonesty and laziness. The letter insists that the Messiah’s self-giving does more than forgive; it forms a distinct people whose daily work and kindness prove they are his. Ordinary Time growth looks like that: faith that shows up in ordinary tasks, not slogans.

Reflection

Where has “eagerness for excellent deeds” shrunk into delay, and what one unfinished act would prove you are his people if you finished it today?

A prayer

Jesus, you spent yourself so I could belong to you. Make me eager, not merely willing. Purify my motives and put my hands to one excellent deed today.

Carry it with you

Choose one unfinished kindness today—a note, a meal, a repaired relationship—and complete it without announcing it. Let eagerness for good work look like a finished task, not a postponed intention.
