The setting
Wisdom teachers in ancient Israel treated the “heart” as the center of will, memory, and choice—not merely feelings. A student was urged to keep inner life as carefully as a city keeps its gates, since every word and deed sprang from that inner well.
Reflection
What “outlet” from your inner life would you most want someone else to receive from you today, and what would you need to guard to make that possible?
A prayer
God, show me what I am actually protecting inside. Make my choices match the life You are growing in me.
