“And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, truly I tell you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
Matthew 10:42
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Jesus was sending the Twelve into towns that might welcome or reject them. In a dry climate, offering water was basic hospitality, often the first kindness a traveler received. He tied even that small act to belonging to him, not to impressive ministry.
Reflection
Who is one “little one” near you whose need is as ordinary as a cup of water, and what would it cost you to meet it today?
A prayer
Jesus, make me notice the small thirsts around me. Help me give without waiting for a bigger moment.
Carry it with you
Keep a bottle of water, a snack, or a spare charger ready and actually hand it to someone who looks worn down at work or on your commute. Name one person you can check on by name today and do it before the day ends.
