Ordinary Time · Daily Verse
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your strength; for there is no deed, no plan, no knowledge, no wisdom in Sheol, where you are going.”
Ecclesiastes 9:10
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
The Teacher wrote amid ancient Near Eastern debates about death’s finality. Israelites knew Sheol as a silent, inactive realm. This verse urged wholehearted effort in the only life they had, turning ordinary labor into purposeful living under God.
Reflection
Where are you holding back strength on a task your hands already hold, as if there will always be more time?
A prayer
God, help me throw myself into the work in front of me instead of holding back. Make even small tasks count.
Carry it with you
Choose one routine duty today—a message, a chore, a conversation—and give it undivided energy as if it matters for God’s kingdom. Finish it before moving on.
