“Let the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ be blessed! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again into a living hope by means of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

1 Peter 1:3

Lumin’s Faithful Translation

The setting

The apostle Peter wrote this letter in the mid-first century to believers scattered across Asia Minor who faced trials and social rejection for their faith. He begins with praise, grounding their endurance in God's mercy shown through Christ's resurrection rather than in their circumstances. In this final week of Lent, focused on renewal and resurrection hope, the verse reminds us that true new life begins with God's mercy. Christ's rising creates a confident, living hope that sustains us through repentance and self-examination. Today it calls us to release old patterns and step into the fresh start offered in him.

Reflection

How does the promise of renewal through Christ speak to your life today? What are you grateful for in this moment?

A prayer

God, thank you for your mercy that gives me new birth and living hope. Renew my heart today and help me live toward the promise of resurrection. Amen.
