“Look! I am doing something new. Even now it is breaking forth. Do you not see it? Yes, I will make a path in the wilderness and streams in the dry land.”

Isaiah 43:19

Lumin’s Faithful Translation

The setting

Isaiah spoke these words to the people of Judah during their exile in Babylon in the sixth century BC. They lived in despair, far from home and feeling abandoned. The imagery of wilderness and desert echoed their ancestors’ earlier journeys and offered promise of a new act of deliverance from God. God declares His power to bring fresh life where none seems possible. In this Lenten season of repentance and reflection, the verse invites us to watch expectantly for renewal amid dryness or difficulty. It builds resurrection hope, reminding us that God transforms barren places as we approach Easter.

Reflection

What dry area of your life needs God’s renewing touch today? Pause and thank Him for the ways He has already brought new life.

A prayer

God, open my eyes to the new thing you are doing in me today. Lead me through every wilderness with streams of your renewing grace. Amen.
