Ordinary Time · Daily Verse
“But you must not act that way; instead, let the greater among you become like the younger, and the leader like the one serving. For who is greater, the one reclining or the one serving? Is it not the one reclining? But I am among you as the one serving.”
Luke 22:26-27
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
At the Passover table, Jesus’ followers were arguing about rank. In that world, honor belonged to those who reclined while others waited on them. Jesus placed himself with the servers and made lowly care the mark of true greatness in his kingdom.
Reflection
Where are you still reclining—waiting to be honored—when Jesus is inviting you to stand and serve?
A prayer
Jesus, I want to be noticed more than I want to help. Set me beside you among those who serve, and give me quiet joy in work no one applauds.
Carry it with you
Today, take one task that usually falls to someone else—clearing up, covering a shift, or checking on a person who is easy to overlook. Before you press your own plan in a conversation, ask what they need and do that first.
