“With this in mind we also pray always for you, that our God may consider you worthy of the calling and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power.”
2 Thessalonians 1:11
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Paul wrote to believers in Thessalonica who were young in the faith and under pressure from neighbors who opposed the gospel. He did not mainly ask for their hardship to vanish; he asked God to complete the good they already wanted to do and to put real strength behind ordinary acts of trust. Calling here is not a private career path but a shared life of loyalty to Christ in public, messy daily settings.
Reflection
Where is a “work of faith” still sitting unfinished in you, waiting for power rather than more planning?
A prayer
God, count me worthy of the life you have already given me. Fill the good I actually want to do with your power, not with my fussing. Amen.
Carry it with you
Name one unfinished good you have already intended—an apology, a check-in, a task done well for someone else’s sake—and finish it before the day ends. Do it as a work of faith, not as image-management.
