“Let no one look down on your youth, but be a model for believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Paul wrote this to Timothy, a younger coworker leading the church in Ephesus, where age often determined respect. In that Greco-Roman setting, elders held automatic authority, so a young pastor needed to earn trust through consistent character rather than title.
Reflection
Which of the five areas Paul names—words, way of life, love, faith, or purity—feels most unfinished in you right now, and what one small change would make it visible to someone else today?
A prayer
God, help me live so others see You in how I talk and act, even when I feel overlooked. Grow me into someone whose ordinary choices point people toward You.
Carry it with you
Choose one setting today—your workplace, family table, or a group chat—and deliberately model one of those five areas, such as speaking with patience when others rush or staying honest when a shortcut would be easier.
