“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him. Rooted and built up in him, established in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
Colossians 2:6-7
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Paul wrote to believers in Colossae, a trade city in Asia Minor facing pressure from local philosophies and rigid religious rules. He reminded them that real growth comes from staying joined to Christ rather than adding extra systems. The farming and building images were everyday pictures of steady, unseen progress in a community learning to live faith amid ordinary work and neighbor relations.
Reflection
Where in your current routines do you sense the quiet “rooting and building” work of Christ inviting you to overflow with gratitude instead of self-effort?
A prayer
Jesus, keep me rooted in you. Grow steady trust and thankful action in me as I move through ordinary tasks.
Carry it with you
Today name one habit or relationship where you can deliberately root deeper in Christ—perhaps by pausing before a decision to ask how it reflects his character, then act on it in a concrete way like offering practical help to a coworker or neighbor.
