The setting
Paul wrote to the divided church in first-century Corinth, a busy port city where believers argued over favorite teachers like himself and Apollos. In that agrarian world everyone knew farmers plant and water, yet only divine power makes crops spring up. He used this everyday picture to humble human pride and recenter them on God's work.

In what relationship are you still trying to force the growth instead of simply planting or watering and trusting God?
A prayer
Father, free me from needing to see instant change. Let me plant and water simply, trusting You alone to make anything grow.
