“Finally, then, brothers, we entreat and urge you in the Lord Jesus, as you received from us how you ought to walk and please God—even as you walk—that you may abound more.”
1 Thessalonians 4:1
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Paul wrote this letter around AD 50 to a young church in Thessalonica, a busy Roman port city full of idol worship and social pressure. New believers faced daily tension between their old pagan habits and following Jesus. He urged them not to plateau but to keep expanding their faith in ordinary routines.
Reflection
Where in your current routines could "overflowing even more" look like one concrete step beyond what feels comfortable?
A prayer
God, help me keep expanding how I live for You in the small stuff. Show me where I can overflow more today.
Carry it with you
Pick one daily habit—like how you speak to a coworker or handle a chore—and intentionally add one extra act of kindness or integrity to it. Track it briefly at day's end to notice the growth.
