The setting
Farming shaped everyday life in first-century Galilee, so Jesus drew on ordinary sowing practices his listeners knew well. Once seed hit the ground, growth unfolded through processes the farmer could neither fully control nor explain. This image showed how God’s reign advances quietly through ordinary faithfulness rather than human force.
Reflection
What ordinary seed of service are you willing to scatter without knowing exactly how or when God will bring the stalk, the head, and the full grain?
A prayer
God, give me courage to plant simple seeds of care and the peace to trust You with the growth.
