“We built the wall, and all the wall was knit together to half its height, for the people had a heart to work.”
Nehemiah 4:6
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
After the exile, Jerusalem’s broken wall left the city exposed. Nehemiah organized families to rebuild side by side while enemies mocked and threatened them. Progress came not from one hero but from a shared resolve to keep laying stone.
Reflection
Where is a “wall” in your community only half joined, and what one stone could you set in place with someone else today?
A prayer
God, give me a willing heart for the work in front of me. Help me join what is broken, not by myself, but with others who need You too.
Carry it with you
Name one unfinished act of care or justice in your ordinary routine—an apology, a meal for a neighbor, a task you keep postponing—and complete a concrete piece of it before the day ends. Work with someone else if you can, so the load is shared.
