“And do not be patterned after this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what the good and pleasing and perfect will of God is.”

Romans 12:2

Lumin’s Faithful Translation

The setting

Paul wrote to believers in the capital of the empire, where public life, status, and loyalty to Rome shaped almost every habit. After laying out God’s mercy, he called them to a different kind of formation: not copying the city’s pattern, but letting God remake how they think. In that culture, “renewing the mind” meant daily choices about whose story would set their values.

Reflection

Where is “this present age” trying to press you into its mold, and what would one renewed thought look like if you tested it against what God actually wants?

A prayer

God, I don’t want this age to stamp me. Renew how I see people and work today, and give me courage to choose what is good even when it costs.

Carry it with you

When a feed, a meeting, or a family script starts dictating your reactions, pause and name one assumption that isn’t from God. Replace it with one concrete act of service or honesty before the day ends.
