“This is what the LORD declares to the house of Israel: Seek me and live.”
Amos 5:4
Lumin’s Faithful Translation
The setting
Amos, a shepherd from the south, prophesied to the northern kingdom of Israel around 760 BC amid economic boom but rampant injustice and idolatry. Empty festivals and corrupt worship masked their spiritual emptiness. God interrupts their complacency with calls to genuine pursuit amid warnings of exile. True life flows from actively seeking God, not rituals or self-reliance—it's an invitation to relationship over religion. Today, in busyness or doubt, turning to Him brings purpose, renewal, and strength for daily challenges.
Reflection
Today, where are you tempted to seek life elsewhere? Pause to consider what seeking God might bring to your challenges, and name one thing you're grateful for in His nearness.
A prayer
Lord, draw me closer today; teach me to seek You first in every moment. Ignite life in my heart as I pursue You alone. Amen.
